Movie Night – Art School Confidential
Anyone who
is an artist in any way should watch this movie, it’s about a guy that all he
wants to do is succeed in the art world. A series of murders are committed on
school campus and the story begins to unravel. I don’t want to post too much
about it, I’m always scared that I give things away and ruin the movies for
people so I always try to keep it as quiet as possible and let the trailer do
the talking for you.

So this happened today...
So when I woke up this morning, this is what I was faced with. Snow. It's here, and it makes Christmas feel like it's finally coming, I know it's only like 35 days or something anyway, better get on with my Christmas shopping then!
Sorry that I will be so quiet this week, due to personal problems that occurred at the end of last week I will be unable to post here until the end of this week, then I will hopefully be back to posting regularly.
You can still find posts on Instagram, you can find me at: Katyf67

3 Blogs I read on a Regular Basis and Why
The Dainty Squid – This is my go to blog for the last
three years, I am always checking up on Kaylah’s adventures. Kaylah is a daily
blogger which I love, it’s always nice having something new to read every day.
She lives in America so is eight hours behind me in the UK, it’s a little bit
like we are backwards from each other. You should read The Dainty Squid if you
enjoy reading about Kaylah’s curiosity display, tattoos, cats, brooches,
vintage, outfit posts and bright coloured hair! click here
Twinkie Chan – I have been following Twinkie’s
updates on twitter for the last few years, I started reading her blog about two
years ago. I bought Twinkie’s book to try and help me along with crocheting, which
I have not quite been successful with yet at all. Crocheting is Twinkie’s thing
she has been doing it since she was a little girl, her blog is full of
colourful food themed crochet items. You should read Twinkie Chan’s Blog if you
enjoy blogs about food, crochet, travelling adventures, outfit posts, free
patterns and bright pink hair! click here
Skunkboy Creatures – I have been reading Katie’s blog for the
past three years, she makes up and sews beautiful little creatures, she is
famous for her wedding cake toppers and her festive instruments. Katie blogs
about her life as a mum of two and a loving wife, she also blogs about her family’s
sugar addiction and how it is probably bad for them. You should read Skunkboy
Creatures if you enjoy blogs about sewing, cute creatures, family updates,
outfit posts, how to hair tutorials, baking and competitions! click here

Why and when I started blogging
When - I suppose you could say I started
blogging when I was about fifteen years old, I used live journal, it is of
course nothing like I blog today, it was more of an online diary more than
anything else.
I only came over to blogger.com within
the last two years, I had another blog that I was running with for a while but
it just didn’t quite feel like home. This blog appears to be the one that I have
just got into the habit of blogging on daily, which was one of my goals for
2013 was to blog more.
I always find it hard trying to think of
topics to blog about, what it came down to was just blogging things I enjoy because
someone out there will probably have similar interests.
Why – I’ve always been an avid blog reader, I will
post some of my favourite blogs in tomorrow’s post! I see blogging as an online
photo album, I can go back and look at dates and see what I was doing on that
day. It’s nice to have your life documented a little, it also encourages me to
clean up my photography skills as I am a total amateur… i.e. not very good.
Most of the time I am probably just
speaking to myself, but it’s my little corner of the internet and I enjoy it
and that’s what it is all about.

What I’ve been listening to recently
Man Man – Oni Oni Pond ( I just can’t stop listening to this
album, even after listening to it about a hundred times literally no exaggeration,
I still continue to go back to this and I am not even getting sick of it yet!
Deftones – The Best of (Deftones used to be my go to band, every
time they played in Glasgow I was there, the first gig I had went to for them I
hadn’t really heard much of their stuff and then I was hooked! I was listening

A Sneak Peek at my craft room/dvd room
I’ve been working on my craft room for
the last month and it is still nowhere near finished. I keep buying little
knick knacks that I hope to one day soon get a display cabinet to then showcase
them on, which also means I am constantly on the hunt for new/old knick knacks.
Currently I am not using my craft room, I
am still just working out of my bedroom which works out quite well because as I
am getting ready for my craft fairs I am knitting and watching tv.
I will be posting more sneak peeks later on this month.
Currently on my desk just now.
I am obsessed with buying craft books, this is only a small section of them.
My new wall clock which i am yet to still hang up on the wall.
On the bottom shelf all in sections is my comic book collection. Yes i collect comic books.
Just a small fraction of my dvd collection.
My bits and bobs section and my sewing machine.
I hope you have enjoyed the look around :)

Halloween 2013
Anyone who knows me offline knows that I am
obsessed with Halloween, horror movies etc so as you can probably guess
Halloween is my favourite day of the year.
Halloween plans were a little last minute
this year so I had to quickly buy my outfit off of amazon. I went as a
bio hazard nurse, small little face mask and all, which was not easy to wear all
night so was for the most part hanging off my wrist rather than on my face.
We started off with drinks at the flat
and taking lots of photographs, these are only a few that were taken in the
post as I didn’t want to bombard you with too much Halloween photographs seeing
as it has well and truly passed. Then after the flat we headed to the Moorings
bar in Aberdeen. I’m not much of a drinker nowadays and I am a total staying in
type, so it’s safe to say I wasn’t out all night and my costume still looked
the same as it had when I went out, including my make- up.
The wig I was wearing is my new favourite
thing, I want to wear this wig everywhere. It’s so silly but so vibrant I loved
it! Don’t think I could turn up at my day job wearing this!
I did buy white out contact lenses to
wear with my outfit but I could not get them in my eyes at all. I’ve never put
contact lenses in before and I still to this day have never had them in. It was
an experience, I was slightly annoyed I couldn’t get them in but maybe next
year I’ll practice a couple of times before the night!

Movie Night – Old Boy
Old Boy is a Korean film so it is
subtitled.
I first saw this film about six years
ago, I am a really big fan of foreign and subtitled films. Quite a few of my
movie night posts will probably entail a subtitled film here and there, more
than likely French as that seems to be my go to for foreign films.
Old Boy as far as I am aware is part of a
trilogy, the other two films in this series are : Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
and Sympathy for Mister Vengeance. If you follow me on instagram (Katyf67) you
will know that I have just recently bought them both so I will be able to watch
them shortly.
This is a very clever film, I don’t want
to go into it too much so as not to spoil it. I don’t really understand when
people comment that they cannot watch subtitled films because it’s distracting,
you just sort of zone in and don’t really think about it. Each to their own,
but some people just don’t even give them a chance.

Music Friday - Ylvis - What did the fox say?
I love this
song, when I first heard it I just thought man I really have to hate this but
it’s so catchy! I love foxes in general and the music video for this made me
love them anymore, I can imagine a fox singing that little tune. Maybe I’m just
mad!

Nail Polish Review – Rimmel Precious Stones
Hello,
This is the
first of my nail polish reviews that I will hopefully be doing on a monthly
basis with the amount of nail polish I purchase! Recently I purchased Rimmels “Precious Stones”,
I’ve been wanting to buy this for a little while now and I eventually gave in
and bought it last week, and my god I am glad I did!
Usually I go
for blues or greens when it comes to nail polish and it’s very unusual for me
to being wearing a glittery one! With glittery nail polish I have found in the
past that it either isn’t the right consistency and it looks awful or it just
makes my bitten nails look very odd. Precious Stones however is dazzling!
I picked it
up in Asda for about £4, originally I was just going to put it onto one nail
along with dark blue on the rest of my nails. Noble suggested I paint the
precious stones on one nail first to see if I liked it because I might want it
on all of my nails, and I am so glad I did because I was hooked, the decision
was made and painted them all in this.
It went on
quite thick, I’m not 100% happy with the way this brushes on but just in two
coats I got it to be so glittery. It also makes your nails feel very textured,
which I am undecided if I like or not. Please excuse the photograph…
Every time I
look down at my nails it is bringing a smile to my face, this could now be in
my top five nail polishes!!!!!

Tea Tasting (Assam)
Some people
go wine tasting, I love to go tea tasting. There is something about coffee
shops that I just adore, I love the little clinking noise of the spoons hitting
the saucers and just the general atmosphere. I usually rate a coffee shop on
their selection of teas, a lot of places just have bog standard tea which
displeases me greatly. On the other hand some places have an amazing selection
and I am spoiled for choice.
I am a tea
drinker through and through, I have never been a coffee lover, I love the smell
but just cannot stomach the taste, not even the least strongest one a latte can
I handle. I’ve come to terms with this because I am a total tea jenny! In my
kitchen I actually have a cupboard that is dedicated to tea!
I would like
to share with you some of my favourite teas and some of the names that I like
to refer them to. I’m one of those people who gets excited in the supermarket
when a new make or brand of tea comes out, I guess I’m just a little bit of a
tea oddball….
First of I would
like to share that I do not have an ultimate favourite tea, every week I have a
different preference and you would to if you drank a crazy amount of tea a day
like I do, roughly on average about eight or nine cups!
Today’s tea
tasting post is going to be on Assam tea, which is better known in my house as Assassin
tea. Why I cannot remember now, but I do know that it has just been stuck to
being called that!
Assam tea is
a heavy bodied black tea, you can pick it up from most supermarkets. Assam
teabags are best to sit in the cup from between 3-5 minutes for its full
flavour, depending on the strength of tea you desire. I serve mine with a
little drop of semi skimmed milk, but as I say it is what you desire.
Good brands
to get:
Newby London
– Assam Tea
Twinning’s –
Assam
Asda’s own
brand – Assam

Bates Motel – TV Show Spoiler
A couple of weeks ago I started watching Bates Motel, I know I am a
little late to the party but never mind. My auntie had been saying how good it
was so I had to give in and watch it just to see what it was like. I’m so glad I
did, the story is set around a mother Norma and her son Norman Bates. They buy
a motel and move away to another town after the unexpected death of Norman’s
father, who tragically died in the garage after a paint pot covered shelving
unit fell on him. Which within the first few scenes of the show you actually
find out that, that is not the case.
There is a lot in this show that doesn’t really seem to make sense to
me, why does Bradley Martin the supposed “cool” girl fall for Norman but not
really fall for him, that part of the story is a really grey area for me. Also
why did Bradley Martins dad get burned alive in his car?
This town has a big secret, the reason why they have so much money is
the fact that they have a massive field on the outskirts of the town full of cannabis,
the towns folk harvest it and sell it on hence why the town has so much money.
These fields are protected by guys with guns!
Bates Motel is a rather strange tv show with a lot of confusing things
going on, it is definitely worth the watch and I am hoping that there will be a
season two J

Movie Night – Howl’s Moving Castle
This is a
movie that I can watch time after time again and again. It is from the Studio
Ghibli collection, and it has got to be one of my favourites. I’d love to live
in the moving castle, the whole storyline just captivates you from start to
finish.
If you haven’t
seen this yet, I strongly recommend it, the artwork is absolutely beautiful.

My Top Movies Part One
I like to
watch a lot of films as you can probably tell by the movie night posts that I post
up. I thought I’d share with you today what I would consider some of my top must
watch movies. I don’t have them in a numbered order but I do have one top
favourite movie of all time so I will start with that one.
Eternal
Sunshine of the spotless mind – Ever since I first watched this movie, I have been in
love with it. I could watch this film constantly and know it word for word. I’ve
even found myself watching this then once it was finished just putting it
straight back on again to watch, it sounds mad but it’s just how much I enjoy
it.
Labyrinth
– This is a movie that I watched a lot as a
child often on repeat on VHS, we had recorded it off of the TV, and the copy we
had was starting to get the old VHS lines and jumps on it, which I guess now is
considered as retro! My sister and I loved it! I remember how excited I got
when I found it on DVD in a dvd shop in London or Glasgow I can’t remember now.
The Crow
– This is the first film that I actually owned
on DVD and I remember going into HMV and my mum having to buy it for me because
I was only 15 at the time and it was rated an 18! This film every time I watch
it always gets me, just for the fact that the main character Brandon Lee (Bruce
Lees son) actually got killed in the making of this film. This is a cult
classic!
Hope you’ve
enjoyed part one of this posts, I will bring part two with you soon.

Friday Music Ellie Goulding – Burn
Ellie Goulding - Burn
The whole of
this album is really good, I’ve never really listening much to Ellie before and
I was missing out. Her style is very different from the usual songs that
frequent the music charts, this song is one of my favourites of hers which I believe
is currently in the UK charts as we speak.

Halloween – Trick or Treat
Haunted
House – York - Stonegate
When I was
in York in September, we came across this haunted house, it was situated around
the back of a witch shop/magic shop I guess. I’m not 100% what would be the
right name for it. Anyway it costs £7.50 per adult or £5 for a student, so we
braced ourselves and decided to go in. In the shop there was a set of monitors
which displayed the inside of the house, it was so that no one gets lost in the
house.
We were
highly warned regarding that anything that happened in the house had nothing to
do with the owners and that they could not take responsibility, they told us
how so much had gone wrong in the past few weeks with the house. Noble and I were
pretty sceptical about this, I was secretly terrified as anything to do with
ghosts generally freaks me out but I wasn’t going to let on that I was scared!
We were
taken out of the shop and led up an alleyway directly to the left and went into
a small reception area, where the woman explained what would happen. She then
left us to go through the door on the left. It was explained that an audio
track was going to alert us and guide us through the tour. In the first room we
weren’t really taking it seriously, we were checking our phones and not really
listening then got asked to move to the next room. The next room was a hallway
and to create effect they actually just left us standing there in the dark
,which in itself gives me the creeps. Everything was sensored so it knew when
you were entering rooms etc.
Each room
told the story of what used to happen in each room, some of the stories were
really sad, one of the rooms told the tale of a maid girl who fell pregnant and
then gave birth to a still born. It was really sad and in those days you just
got told to just get on with it! There was no NHS in those days!
The second
last room we entered into was a seance room which gave me the creeps completely!
There were oouji (can't spell that) boards and it totally creeped us out! Most of the time in this haunted house we were just left in the dark. I can't decide if this house was haunted or not, i also can't decide if it was cold just because they had put air con on or something. I definitely enjoyed myself here though :)

(Halloween) Classic Movies
I am
literally so excited for Halloween I really can’t wait! My costume still hasn’t
arrived yet which I am quite concerned about but I am hoping it will in fact be
here on time for Halloween. I’m keeping my costume top secret but I will post
up photographs next week of our outfits.
This year I am
very disappointed by the lack of Halloween stuff in Supermarkets this year as
well as the quality. I wish Halloween over here in the UK was as big as it is
in the USA, maybe I will just have to start ordering decorations off of the
Internet from now on.
Classic
Halloween Movies to watch:
Original Frankenstein
Original
Dracula
Original
Wolfman
When it
comes to Halloween traditions, the only ones I seem to have is to watch lots
and lots of horror movies the week leading up to Halloween, but to be honest
that isn’t much of a change from the rest of the year seeing as I watch them
all year round. The good thing about this time of the year though is you can
buy horror movies in the supermarket for pretty cheap which is always good.
This week I am
going to share a few posts related to Halloween and spooky goings on.
