Today’s music Friday post definitely has a hint of Nobles
taste in music, after all it was Noble who got me into this band anyway. I think
Tyr are described as a Viking metal band, I could be very wrong and Noble maybe
reading this with a very disappointed face. Regardless you should have a listen
to them, they have quite a number of albums out. When we are in the car I usually
put this song on due to the fact it’s the only song of theirs I seem to know
the words too.
Be warned this song is very catchy, and even as I am
writing this post now I am singing the song in my head.
Thank you for reading

P.S Please be advised that I do not own the
above video, I took this video off of YouTube.
Today I am going to review the Meg Wolitzer
book “The Interesting’s” which is the January – A Beautiful Mess book club
book. I’m going to start off by saying I would not normally have read this
book, I would have walked past this in a bookstore and not really thought
anything much of it. I decided to do the A Beautiful Mess book club so that I could
be exposed to books that I would not normally pick up and read. Every month I will
post up a little review of the book of the month. So here goes.
The book starts off with a group of
teenagers meeting in the 80s at a summer camp called “Spirit in the woods”. It
tells the story of how all of the unlikely acquainted friends become friends
and how they more than likely would not have become friends if it hadn’t been
for this summer camp.
The characters are very loveable and by the
end of the book you dearly care about them. You have Jules who is not so lusted
after and every time she is embarrassed blushes very red. There’s Ash and
Goodman Wolf who are both beautiful and the wolf family are very well off,
which makes them very appealing to Jules whose family are not so well off.
There’s Ethan Figman who is very artistic and throughout his teenage years and
right up to his adult life he is constantly scribbling drawings in his
notebooks.
Throughout the book you get to see the
young teenagers all become young adults, then become married off and you see
their careers. All the way through the book you see that that Jules tries to
keep all of the characters as friends in their adult life and tries desperately
to hold on to their childhood as much as they can. The book takes the friends
all the way up to their 50s.
This book is filled with tragedy, friendship,
devotion, loyalty, growing up, finding yourself, never giving up, staying
strong to your dreams and always cherishing memories.
I’m really glad that I took the time to
read this book, it was really refreshing and you can relate a lot with some of
the characters which I like. I’ve already started looking into other Meg Woltizer
books to see if there is any other ones that I would find interesting. There is
a few now that I have my eye on already.
This book was so good that I spent a lot of
time reading this and read it very quickly. As I read all of my books on my
kindle it doesn’t display the page numbers, but I think it’s roughly about 452
pages long.
This review isn’t a heavy review as I do not
want to spoil it for people. I don’t want to give too much of the story line
away as I think it would spoil this book.
You can find the A Beautiful Mess blog here
where you can find the book club posts and join in as well. Is anyone else
doing the book club?
I would first off like to say how I am already finding this
“photo an hour project” pretty difficult and I am only on month one out of
twelve, I am sensing that this is not a good sign at all!
I chose to carry out my photo an hour post at the weekend
because I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be too excited seeing six hours’ worth of
photographs of me sitting at my desk.
Please see below Januarys admission for my photo an hour
for January.
I was cozied up in bed with a cup of tea and knitting and finished off Season 3 of Justified!
Still doing the same as 8am, sitting with my scrabble piece mug.
Household tasks like getting my washing done at 10am.
Watching Wonderfalls, I actually ended up watching up to the end of the series!
To be honest, my weekend usually consist of what happens at 12pm.
I had typed up a long version of this post previous to
this one and then my computer decided that Microsoft word no longer wished to
work, instead of my document file containing this blog post turning into an auto
save file, it just totally disappeared from my computer completely. So here I am
now trying to remember exactly what I had put in the original post to try and
convey it into this one!
I don’t know if you have noticed but I have decided to
move my SS14 collection (Spring/Summer) to March now instead of February as I would
like more time to adapt my first ever collection!
My SS14 collection will host a variation of items
including, new cushions, tissue box cozies, wedding cake toppers (in time for
Wedding season!) and a few other things that I am keeping top secret just now!
Irregular Owl HQ has looked a little like this recently. Very
productive indeed! The next few months will also look this way due to the
collection becoming available in March! Most items will be on a made to order
basis but nearer craft fair times, left over stock will then be added to the
shop!
I would describe the SS14 collection as fun and quirky.
There’s a little bit of something for everyone I would say. I’m enjoying
scribbling down my sketches of what I would like everything to look like. Also
playing with patterns and making them up and then having the frustration of
having to go back as I’ve either made it too big or way too small. Trial and
error is a big thing for me with this collection, a huge learning opportunity for
me here!
Here’s a few more sneak peeks at the collection so far, I
will share more very soon. It’s really exciting to be putting this together!!!
We are already living the free weekend
life, and sadly it is getting that much closer to Monday already! Sorry to be
so depressing, I love my weekend spare time! Not that any weekend time is spare
for being a craft business owner!
This week’s Saturday night movie, I actually
watched this myself, as this isn’t really Noble’s cup of tea. It doesn’t really
have any violence, gore or any horror element at all to it to be honest.
I watched this film, My week with Marylin,
as I am very fond of the late Maryiln Monroe. Her story is so tragic, and you
just feel so much sympathy for her. Marilyn was a brilliant actress and
captured such an elegance on screen and off screen that many people who were
working closely fell in love with her, even if they tried really hard not to!
Michelle Williams who plays Marilyn is so
good at it, I wasn’t sure how well she would capture her but she did it in such
a classical way I was really pleased. If you are a fan of Marilyn Monroe or
even just want to get a glimpse of what her last week was like roughly, then I strongly
suggest watching this film.
I do not own this video in any way shape or
form I copied it off of Youtube.
It’s that time of the week again, Music
Friday. This week I am sharing with you an old classic, The Jam – A town called
Malice.
It’s a funny story of how I first
discovered this song, and it’s actually rather unamusing at the same time. I
first heard this song when I first watched Billy Elliot, I fell in love with
the whole soundtrack for this movie, as well as this movie. Listening to this
song has actually got me in the mood to go and pop on the film.
Hope you have some exciting plans for the
weekend!
Thank you for reading

This will be my last post regarding quitting smoking until about
April. Instead of posting progress every week I thought I would now do it on a
three month kind of basis.
As I’ve said many times before, I have tried and failed many
times to give up smoking. Always falling back into the trap of thinking “I’ll
just have one, that one don’t any harm.” Which then turns into two, three and
so on.
Ex-smokers have always said that when they have given up for
good they just know. I thought the last couple of times I have quit that I just
knew, and boy was wrong! This time though something is very different, the
temptation doesn’t seem to be there along with the cravings that are usually
there. My stress levels are no higher than usual, which are pretty high anyway
as I seem to be the most stressful person it would seem!
Noble is a smoker and he continues to smoke to which we have
adapted to. He carries chewing gum in his pockets all the time so I no longer
have to endure the taste of cigarettes seeing as I have quit.
I have discovered that everything smells a lot different from
what you are used to when you have smoked for almost ten years. Some smells are
really inviting along with tastes, however some are really not.
Today I’d like to share with you a few
facts about Octopus seeing as the Octopus is one of my favourite sea creatures.
·Octopus are very fascinating creatures and are one of my
favourite invertebrates. They are considered to be most intelligent of all invertebrates
and have a lot of human like qualities that i am going to share.
·As predators, Octopus need to understand and remember their
environment and behaviour of other animals to help them capture their unexpected
prey.
·Studies have shown that octopuses learn easily, including
learning by observation of other octopuses.
·They are great problem solvers, as they can at times be seen
removing a plug or unscrewing a lid to get a prey from a container.
·Common octopuses will collect crustacean shells and other objects
to construct fortresses around where they live to protect it. Other octopuses
carry shells for protection.
·There are around 300 recognized octopus species.
·All octopuses are venomous, but only the small blue-ringed
octopuses are known to be deadly to humans.
·Octopuses have three hearts. Two pump blood through each of the
two gills, while the third pumps blood through the body.
·They have beaklike jaws that can deliver a nasty bite, and
venomous saliva mainly used for subduing pray.
·An octopus can lose an arm to escape a predator’s grasp and
re-grow it later with no permanent damage
·The amazing mimic octopuses are capable of changing their body
shape to mimic other animals.
·Scientists believe that octopuses have individual responses and
individual temperaments which results in them all having individual
personalities.
I hope you have enjoyed my little fact file
today about Octopuses. I will being doing little fact files not only animals
throughout the year but also on things like Vikings, Tudors and much more.

Only to name a few of course. I want to be
a lot more involved with the blog this year, and try and give more of myself to
the blog. As last year that is how I aimed to start the year, but as the year
went on a lot of stuff happened off line that sort of interrupted that process.
Hopefully moving forward, this year should
be a lot more positive and a lot of creativeness is coming my way.
Is there anything you would like to either
see more of on the blog, or maybe something to add to it?

decide what to get someone! You will be able to purchase these through our Facebook

This year as well fingers crossed all goes
well, I am hoping to be starting some craft classes. There won’t be many
planned for the year of 2014, but they will begin. Maybe have roughly six
classes over the course of the year, just to begin with. Until hopefully one
day I can get myself set up with a city centre studio in town when I can host
regular craft classes and craft parties. I’m not sure how successful the latter
would be, we shall just have to wait and see.
I’m excited for you to see my journey
through 2014!
Thank you for reading

Just a quick short post to let you know I have
added some additional goals to my “goals for 2014” which already is pretty big
