Friday Music - Avril Lavigne

Hi,

It’s that time of the week again and it’s time for Friday Music. For those of you who are a new reader to my blog, On my Friday Music blog posts which occur every Friday I post up a video of a song, comment on how much I love it and sometimes tell you a little bit of why I love the song so much in the first place.
This weeks Friday Music is dedicated to Avril Lavignes new song –

I must admit when Avril Lavigne first came out I was an avid fan, I knew all the words to all of her songs (still do) and even to this day I still have her music on my mp3 player.

I stumbled across this song by accident, my flatmate had the radio on and I was humming away to a song then it clicked that it was Avril Lavigne, within two minutes of looking it up I discovered that she had a new song out. So obviously I should get it! Then before I knew it again I was hooked! All of her songs are just too catchy, I think that’s the main problem.

Thank you for reading.

What I’ve been doing recently/ What’s new to me

Hi,
This is just a little post to let you know what I’ve been watching recently reading and any new films I have watched, also what music I have been repeating over and over again.

·         Noble and I have been making our way through American Horror Story. I’ve seen this before but Noble is new to it, it probably has to be one of my favourite TV shows In a while.

·         I’ve been reading Handmade to Sell – I’m not really enjoying it as much as I thought I was going to but regardless I will still perceiver and finish it off. I’ve also been reading Silence of the lambs, I finished off Red Dragon over a month ago. I’ve been quite bad recently because I haven’t picked up my kindle to read for ages. I used to read all the time when travelling but when Noble is in the car he doesn’t want me reading he wants me to keep him company. Which is fair enough but totally cuts down on my reading time. I set myself a goal to read a certain amount of books this year, I think I’ve read 7 books and I think I’ve still got about 8 to go so at this rate I won’t make it.

·         We’ve not really been watching any films recently, we’ve been too hooked on watching TV programmes, there is a few movies that we would like to go see in the cinema that is out just now or just away to come out. The Lone Ranger – Noble really wants to see this one. Now you see me – I’m quite keen to see this one. The World’s End – I’ve been waiting for this one to come out for a while and we still just haven’t gone to go see it!

I’m terrible when it comes to the cinema, I hate being in the company of others that I don’t know watching a movie I would much rather be in the comfort of my own home watching it. So any excuse not to go to the cinema and I’ll take it J I need to get out of the habit of doing this though as that’s not very social able.
·         Its strange but recently I’ve been listening to “The Fray” a lot, they are quite mellow music and it captures quite a sad atmosphere. I listened to them when they first came out a few years ago but for some reason they have ended up on my mp3 player and have become my go to for just now.

Instagram Bulk Post

Hi,
I’m not sure if you know this but I am a big fan of instagram as I am not very good at taking photos at all! So instagram is a total god send J

I’m on Instagram every couple of days usually posting up photos of crafts, daily goings on, couple pictures (cause who doesn’t). Instagram is probably the only place on the internet when people will like every photo you put up of just pictures of your dinner!

Here is my recent Instagram activity:

Hannibal - TV Series Review

Hi,

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that we had just finished watching the Hannibal TV Series last week and I said I was going to write a review on it.

Let me start off with saying I was so pleasantly surprised with this TV series, I was not expecting it to be anywhere near as good as it was.

The actor who plays Hannibal, I was a bit unsure if he would be able to pull off the part but he did it so well. He does not play Hannibal in the same way as Antony Hopkins portrays him which is the sarcastic charming sort of nature. The guy who plays Hannibal in the TV Series plays the character is such an elegant, charming and seductive way. I know that sounds kind of odd but it’s the best way I can find to describe it.

The series is set before the trilogy of films, so before Hannibal has been caught. The main character along with Hannibal is a guy called Will Graham, Will is a guy who can virtually visualise a whole re-enactment of a crime scene and can tell you exactly what happened and who did it. Having a gift like this obviously has its toll on poor Will Graham as he begins to start losing his marbles.

The special effects in this series are incredible, it’s very graphic and the storylines are so twisted. If you are a horror buff like my boyfriend and I then you will really enjoy the gore factor in this series. I don’t want to go on to much as I am scared I give too much away and ruin it for you. I’m guessing that this will be signed up for a season two, well I hope so after the way that this first season ended. It left you totally wanting more, i hate when that happens! Oh well we will have to wait till 2014!

Cooking adventures - Part Two

Hi,

So the other day i decided to try my hand at making Ham and Cheese crepes for the boyfriend as it appears to be his favourite food at the moment.

For this recipe i used: 120g of plain flour, 325ml of milk, 1 large egg, a small sprinkling of salt and a tiny bit of butter for the pan.

First you have to weigh the ingredients then put the flour into a mixing bowl, then add the egg and milk. Then you start the mixing process and make sure you get out all of the lumps!

Then you add the butter to your pan and heat up on a medium setting.

Don't set it too hot as crepes are thin and if it is too hot it will burn them very quickly.

For mixing if i had had a whisk it would have been much easier so i suggest if you are going to make this recipe which makes 2-4 crepes by the way! I suggest getting a whisk or a blender though!

I must go and purchase a blender!!
Then you have to place the ingredients into the pan starting from the middle, then you have to take the pan off the heat and swirl the mixture so it completely covers the surface of the pan. Then you have to cook it on one side for roughly 1-2 minutes. After this you will then have to pry at the sides and get ready for flipping. Once flipped, cook the other side for 1-2 minutes. Then they will be ready to take off the hob!

I added ham and cheese for mine but you can add anything your heart desires. Crepes can be made as a savoury dish or sweet!

I don't actually think they came out too bad :) I impressed myself, and the boyfriend said they tasted great! I will definitely be practicing this recipe a lot more often though to get them perfect :)

Dear Week - Sunday 4th August 2013

Dear Week

Hi,

This week has been a pretty easy week for us, we have been pretty lazy in general. It wasn’t until the end of the week that I actually felt like I had achieved something for the week.

·        We have finished watching Season one of Hannibal, it was really good! I wasn’t expecting this to be anywhere near as good as it was, I was very surprised and very thankful of how good it was! I will be writing a review on this next week so look out for that J

·        I have received so many parcels in the mail this week, my postman will actually hate me. It’s not just a few parcels that have been coming every day, it’s more like 8 – 12 parcels a day and not small ones!

·        I started my cooking adventures this week and I am truly enjoying it! Prepping food is quite possibly the best bit of cooking that I enjoy, it’s the motivation for cooking that I have never really had before, hopefully that is all changing now!

·        The weather has been hot, and I mean uncomfortable hot, this makes both me and Noble sad as we both dislike the heat and should probably just move to Norway!

·        I went to visit my mum this week, it was lovely to catch up. I also got to take the train there, which is excellent as I love travelling by train, not on long distances though but I little 35 min train journey is fine for me!

I    I also went to visit my sister, her boyfriend and my niece :) She is growing up so fast i can't believe she is almost a year old!

I I found a magazine that i will not be getting every month. Crafty Magazine :) It's always good to find a magazine that you enjoy near enough every page!

Next week we shall try to be a little more productive I think as I have been spending most of my time with Noble instead of doing crafty stuff, which is very unusual because it’s usually the other way round. For a change I’ve been putting aside a lot of time for my man.

Adventures in cooking – Part one

Hi,

For those of you who know me in real life I am not much of a cook. I am one of those frozen food gals that just pops food in the oven for 20-25mins then it’s ready to be served!

This past weekend I decided that everything my boyfriend and I were buying in the food shopping was going to be fresh and I was going to cook everything from scratch. The week has been good so far on Monday I cooked Mince, scurlie and mashed potato. On Tuesday I cooked Sausage and Mash. This is a huge achievement for me as I usually would have cooked us something along the lines of turkey drummers and potato wedges, full of good nutrients obviously!

To help aid me in my quest for cooking I decided the other day to buy a cook book, this for anyone who knows me is comical because I go through these phases where I want to cook fresh and that’s all it is a phase. This time however though I have been doing a lot better than I have done before! Ordering a cook book was purely to give me some good ideas for what to cook because I really don’t have a clue! The book I bought is a “best of British” it has all your home favourites and classics in it including toad in the hole, Yorkshire puddings and many more.

I am a baker, I can bake cakes, scones anything baking wise I can do. Putting ingredients together and baking it, I am more than capable. When it comes to cooking for some reason it just totally boggles my brain! Why I have no idea, it just happens!
The other day whilst food shopping I bought gnocchi, this is just condensed potato in a compact package. I had to ask my dad what you serve that with because I had absolutely no idea!

I class this as my cooking adventures because I am not really 100% as to where this could take me. I am however very excited about cooking fresh! It might be a bit more expensive for your food shop at the end of every week, but my boyfriend also then has lunch to take for the next day so pennies are being saved somewhere!

Friday Music - Summer Camp - Losing My Mind

Hi,

On this weeks Friday Music i would like to introduce you to the band Summer Camp. I'm actually unsure how i discovered them i think they just came up on the suggestions section in youtube on another video and i clicked on it and fell in love :)

This band and this video alone sum up why i fell in love with this band. This music video is so strange and so bizzare and has a lot of turtle neck footage in it, oh and did i forget to mention cats.

Have a little listen and tell me what you think, as far as i have found online they only have one album out, i don't believe they have ever been in the charts or anything but fingers crossed one day they will be.

Enjoy!

Katy
