A month in view - July

Hi,

So July is when i properly got my backside into gear and got myself back to blogging and on a very regular basis, daily is what i am for.

This week has passed so quickly, and in the words of game of thrones - "Winter is coming" it actually will be here soon! And before you know it, it will be Christmas eek!

Quite a highlight for this month was playing around and designing my logo, i am very pleased with this. I love everything about it! I still have to arrange to get my business cards changed for this. I only ordered new business cards about a month ago. Silly Katy!

I dyed my hair green!!!! This is a big thing as i have always wanted my hair all green, i've had streaks and everything but never all over. The colour is Alpine Green and i have quite a stock of it so my hair will be green for quite a while :)

I added my new 21,07 range to my etsy store :) I put a lot of love into this line and i love it and i am really pleased with the result!

The new Alice in Chains album, i was very impressed with and will definetly be going on to my new mp3 player :)

This man was away for two weeks this month and i missed him like crazy :) Luckily he is back now! This boy is my best friend as well as my boyfriend and he's also went and got himself a motorbike, he looks more like OPI from Sons of Anarcy every day, that's not a bad thing.

Bought some crafty books, still awaiting for them in the post, can't wait to pla around with Embroidery!

Still waiting for this too, just want to get my head stuck into this book! I will be writing book reviews on the two books above.

I read and finished this book really quickly, i loved it! The language in it was one i understood and it totally helped my brain go into complete crafty business mode!

Thanks for reading :)

Recent Buys - Shopping Addicts

Hi,

I thought i would share with you some of my recent buys and a few of the reasons why my postman is going to hate me :)

I am constantly reading craft books and i picked this one at amazon.co.uk the other day, i'm really excited for this one coming. I plan on doing some embroidery onto some tote bags :)

Seeing as i have just ventured out into the world of jewellery making i decided to brush up all my knowledge on running a jewellery business. I have been running a craft business for a year and a half now and have read it many times but jewellery is a whole new adventure.

For those of you who may know, i am a little deviant when it comes to piercings and tattoos. I have my ears stretched to 8mm and i am obsessed with buying myself new plugs, i have quite a collection :) I ordered these the other day and i can't wait for them to come, they are so bold :)

I just couldn't resist these leggings they are a little bit wild and out there but i totally love them! I think i can rock them up a little bit with a t-shirt. They are made from vinyl, i've never bought leggings made from that before so i'm excited to see how they are.

My little mp3 player conked out on me the other day (as well as my computer, not a good week for technology for me) but i found this inexpensive 32gb little mp3 player, it looks like an ipod, but isn't an ipod. I'm just hoping that it works okay :)

Favourites this week :) 29th July 2013

Hi,

How is everyone?

I thought i would do a little post on some of my favourite things i have found whilst browsing on the internet recently.

This Blythe doll is my favourite that i have come across so far, i am obsessed with her colour of hair, maybe mint green will be my next colour of dye to play about with. This Blythe has such a sophisticated and charming look about her. Sadly i would need to save up to spend pennies on her as she is almost £200!

I have been eyeing up this Banned dress for some time now, unfortunately they never have it in my size it is always sold out :( This dress would look great in my wardrobe!

I can't quite decide what is it i like about this jumper the most, i'm not sure if it's the Frankenstien stitches on the sleeves or the gruesome but looking hands on the front, either way i would wear this a lot i reckon.

I love owls and this really cute little Banned jumper with owls on it is amazing! I think i really will have to treat myself with this one :)

Thanks for reading :)

P.S Sorry for the radio silence over the weekend unfortunately my computer conked out on me so i've ordered a tablet, so it should arrive on Tuesday, so regular daily blogging will continue :)

Music Friday - Alice in Chains - Them Bones

Hi,

After my post review of the new Alice in Chains album i thought for this weeks Music Friday that i would post up one of my favourite one of there songs. The new album is very similar in style to this song but they have changed up in a way that it still captures the essence of their band.

Enjoy!

The Crafty Superstar - Grace Dobush Book Review

Hi,

I purchased this book a couple of months back now and just couldn't find the time to read it as i was getting ready for the craft fair that has just passed, but since that was finished for the time being i finally got a chance to pick this up off my bookshelf, and boy what a treat i got myself!!!

This book was amazing, i literally could not put it down. The Crafty Superstar Ultimate Craft Business Guide has been issued once before but this is the new and expanded version i purchased. The author Grace Dobush brought out a new edition a few years after the first edition had come out because with the crafting business making a big boom the information had to be updated a little bit.

It starts off with chapter one asking if you DIY, the book goes into great depth of how you decide whether or not your craft is a hobby or if it's a business. It shows you some guidance on how to figure out what way forward you want to go.

This book has really good advice and ideas, i would recommend this highly. It is an american book so it speaks a lot about the american side of things but the business advice is universal so is applicable to everyone. I am really glad i purchased this book, i have bought a few craft business books and this one is definetly the best one i have read.

If you are interested in starting a craft business i strongly suggest picking this up.

Thank you for reading.

See you soon

Album Review - Alice In Chains- The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

Alice in Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.

First off what an amazing name for an album! I was totally drawn to considering how much i am obsessed with Dinosaurs, which i am due to be posting about in the next couple of week. Anyways back to the subject on hand, my album review for this Alice in Chains album:

I was fresh at listening to this album, i was only aware they had a new album out just a few weeks ago! I do enjoy listening to Alice in Chains but i have just never kept up to date with the news of the band. I love all the favourites like "Them Bones" to this day that song still gives me the chills.

The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here album, a lot of people online have been discussed how familiar they were with "Hollow" and "Stone", two songs of which i had not heard until i had actually in fact listened to the whole album.

You can get everything you would expect from an Alice in Chains album, sludgy guitars and a very grungy sound but in hell in a good way! This review is only based on my first listen to this album over the weekend, i will definitely be listening to it again soon!

Alice in Chains can still to this day capture the sounds and styles they have always wanted to achieve, they are very good and keeping the same sounds but making it fresh! Not a lot of bands can achieve this, and on such a great scale!

My highlights of this album are :

"Breath on the window" - This is by far the song i would strongly suggest to listen to on this album, it really got to me. I think i may have played this song more than once when i was listening through. It's always good to have a skip back.

"Low Ceiling" - This song is definitely my second favourite of the album so i strongly suggest to listen to this one too! You don't have to listen to the album in order!

And thirdly do you not just think it's a brilliant album colour, its bold and it has exactly what it is trying to draw up! I love it!

Thank you for reading :)

Dear Week - 21st July 2013

Dear Week:

  • This week has been hard for many reasons, i'm not emotionally ready to speak openly about it. Time is a healer, i just have to be patient.
  • I have dyed my hair green, yes that's right green! I have always wanted my hair green, what with it being my favourite colour and all! Luckily my work don't even mind it's green which means i can keep it!!!

  •  I really am addicted to using Instagram!I have been for a while, you can find me there @katyf67 This photo makes me hair colour look awesome but makes me skin colour go orange. For those who know i'm really pale, this filter just made me look like someone out of Jersey Shore!
  • Noble is away in Bristol, so this week i've been missing my man, he will however be back next Friday which could not come any quicker if it tried!
  • My postman must actually hate me, my eBay addiction is also in mega drive at the moment! Every day there is a little parcel of shiny things waiting for me!
  • I found the coolest 3D phone cover in discount UK on Friday night, it cost me £1 but it's 3D and has planets on it and i'm totally geeking out over it!!!

This was just one days worth of parcels.

Coolest phone case ever!
Flowers i received from work.
  • Overall this week has been really hard, it's time to just take a step back and to breathe. Maybe next week will be a better week, we can only hope.
See you soon

Craft Fair June 29th St Andrews

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago i commented on here that i was taking part in a craft fair,i was hoping to post more updates before it happened but sadly some personal stuff happened around the same time.

I thought i would however post up some photographs of the craft fair and some of the items i parted with when i sold them there. Do you ever get a little lump in your throat when you sell your stuff? The thought of never seeing it again? Then the feeling of knowing someone is wearing your art totally overcomes the sadness :)

On the morning of the craft fair we discovered when we were in the car on the way there that we needed tablecloths for the stalls! My grandma and granddad had to run down in the car and bring them, i was to say the very least very stressed! So my set up time calculated to about having 25 minutes left. After the panic was over i managed to get my table organised :)

My vintage scissor necklaces sold really well this day :)

I got really excited with making button rings that i ended up with a huge stock of them.

My sea of dreams bracelet is £8 and still available, i will be adding this to my etsy shop this weekend.

This bracelet ended up going with my mum she just couldn't help herself :)

I made this tooth ring out of clay for fun, i came home with this ring, i think i'm going to end up wearing it myself!

The handmade liquorice allsorts bracelet went to a good home, it went to one of my cousins. I was sad to see this one go, i will be making more of these. They will be available in my etsy shop in the made to order option they are £8.

Here are some of my button earrings, cameo brooches and my button rings. If you head over to my facebook page you can find these for sale there :)

This fair i made all of my own packaging, see above. I loved doing this craft fair, it was so busy! My mum covered for 45 minutes so Noble (my boyfriend) and i could go for a coffee and to browse some little nic nak shops.

This was a really good weekend, my grandparents run a B&B in St Andrews so we had somewhere to stay, so we made it into a nice little weekend. This was also the first weekend Noble and i went away for the weekend.

I think Noble was pleased when this fair was over, i was a lot like stressed and wasn't constantly making jewellery anymore.

Next craft fair will be in St Andrews again in September.

See you soon
