Movie Night - Spiders

After a Soviet space station crashes into a New York City subway tunnel, a species of venomous spiders is discovered, and soon they mutate to gigantic proportions and wreak havoc on the city.

This movie is very cheesy, if you can put up with a little bit of bad acting and really bad CGI then this is the movie for you! To start with the graphics for the spiders really annoyed me, it looked so fake and I was not impressed! As the storyline went on though it became really good and it totally sucked me in.

Basically what happens is the spiders start to take over the world and they get bigger and bigger. As I said the CGI is really terrible but it gives the film a little bit of charm and makes it watchable. Even the DVD cover looks really over the top cheesy CGI but it was fine. I’m pretty glad I gave this movie a chance, you have to keep going with it until about 15 minutes in then you’ll be hooked.

It did start to make me think what would happen if spiders actually mutated to this sort of size, then it made me freak out a little bit! One of the funniest scenes in the whole film, is when one of the characters gets squashed by the queen spiders huge feet, the way it happened just made me laugh out loud. If you watch it, when the scene comes up you will know exactly what one I am on about.

You do really need to give this movie a chance, but when you do hopefully you’ll enjoy it too in a strange way like me.
