Hello,
A couple of months ago I bought
the Queen of Crafts book, I’d been
putting it off for a while and was saving it for a treat for myself. Eventually
after a few short months of knowing the book existed I had caved and bought it,
and I am so glad I did!
This book is wonderful, it covers
a broad spectrum of all different kinds of crafts, from knitting to making
preserves. It covered so many different categories along with the likes of how
to start your own craft meet, which is amazing knowledge as not a lot of books
cover this type of topic, as if it is unheard of for wanting to start up
your
own group!
At the beginning it covers the
story of how it all started craft wise with Jazz, which I always enjoy reading
in a book. One of the things I really like in the section is the fact, that yes
she has a rock n’ roll dad (Joe Strummer) but she never names him in the book.
Which I really like, as she is trying to be her own person and develop out with
her dad’s shadow.
Jazz is so involved with the craft
movement that it is really inspiring. I like when like minded crafty people are
trying to share the “old age” crafts, like knitting and making them modern.
Knitting is stereotyped in the way that old ladies sit and knit whilst watching
tv and drinking cups of tea. Funny thing is that is what I am like minus only
being a twenty something. Jazz makes outsiders realise that times are changing
and that old crafts can be carried out by the younger generation, just so the
crafting generation does not die out and all those traditional crafts with it.
I strongly suggest you pick up
this book, you can buy it from amazon here which is where I got it from
but I believe it is available at most book stores. Jazz also has her own
twitter page along with a blog that you can have a look at her daily going’s
on.
Has anyone else read this book and
did you enjoy it as much as I did?
Thank you for reading
Katy
